PIPER J3C-65 (L-4)
This immaculate Piper J3C-65 is our oldest aircraft in our fleet. It is probably one of the best original military L4A Piper Cubs in Europe. After the complete restoration in 1996/97, every part was faithfully restored or replaced.
Not without reason we also call our Piper “Tina’s favorite”.
Today it is one of the finest original examples of the L4A Piper Cub
Our Piper offers an amazing opportunity to experience what flying was like back in the day. The complete set of cream-coloured ‘Cub’ instruments still works perfectly, nothing about it has changed since the year 1943.
This piece of history is truly convincing in all its parts, from the shiny Sensenich propeller to the original Taylor spur wheel without carcass with the original P-control handles in between. Nothing else even comes close to this piece of history.
HISTORY
Our Piper was manufactured in the summer of 1943 and received by the USAAF at Lock Haven PA on 12/07/1943.
She was shipped to Camp Beale, California on 06/08/1943 and was lost in USAAF records during the war.
During her time at Camp Beale, the Piper was used for navigation and reconnaissance training until she was disposed of by the Reconstruction Finance Corp in 1945.
Over the next 40 years, she was slowly transported to America’s east under registration N46779 until she was fully restored to her original condition in 1996.
She was then transported from Michigan to Staffordshire over Christmas 2008 and brought to the UK in 2009.
Today we are the lucky owners of this very special Piper and enjoy every flight with this piece of history.
